Dental Veneers Bella Vista

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are thin porcelain facings or composite resin that your dentist applies to the front surface of your natural teeth. Veneers can be used to improve the appearance of the shape, alignment, size and colour of your teeth. They are a lasting and natural-looking solution for those wanting a smile makeover. At our Bella Vista dental practice, we can use dental veneers to help make your dream smile a reality.

Co-design your dream smile

When you come to Lexington Dental for veneers we listen to your wants and needs. We love working alongside our patients to create their dream smile. We always create tailor made treatment plans. With veneers you can choose the size, shape and colour of your new teeth. It’s a fun process that gives you creative control over your new smile.

We use the latest dental technology at Lexington Dental. Digital Smile Design (DSD) is an innovative invention that allows us to get an in-depth analysis of your smile. It has interactive features which enable you to get involved in planning your future smile. We can use DSD to demonstrate what your veneers may look like before committing to the procedure.

Why get veneers?

Veneers are a popular cosmetic dental procedure that can enhance the appearance of your natural smile. Patients may choose to get veneers if they have the following:

  • Discolouration
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Uneven teeth or teeth that stick out
  • Gaps between their teeth
  • An asymmetrical smile

Types of Veneers

At Lexington Dental, we’re committed to providing our patients with options when it comes to quality dental treatments, that’s why we offer both porcelain and composite veneers.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom made in a special dental lab from impressions we take of your teeth. They are extremely thin shell-like covers that are adhered to the front of your natural teeth surface. The shape and colour of your veneers are chosen in line with your smile goals. Porcelain veneers typically take longer to make and are more expensive than other options. However, they are also the most natural looking, and longest lasting material- they should last between 10 and 15 years.

Composite veneers

Composite veneers are made from resin which is placed directly onto the surface of your teeth. Your dentist then shapes it accordingly and hardens it with a special light. Composite veneers can be used on single or multiple teeth. The resin can be colour matched to your surrounding teeth to offer a natural-looking finish. Composite veneers are typically cheaper than porcelain veneers, with less time involved too, however, they may not last as long.

What happens during a porcelain veneer procedure?

After initial discussion and if veneers are the right choice for you, we can begin the very exciting process. Here is a brief overview of the typical sequence and process of the veneer process.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred shape and colour your dentist takes a mould of your teeth. This is sent to a special lab where your veneers are made. It usually takes between one and two weeks for your veneers to be made. Once we’ve received them you can come in to have them applied:

  1. First we check the colour, shape and size to make sure they’re perfect for you.
  2. Then we thoroughly clean your teeth to remove any bacteria that could get trapped under the veneer.
  3. After this, we use a special tool that etches the front of your teeth to create a rougher surface for the veneer to stick to.
  4. We use a special dental cement and an ultraviolet light to stick the veneers in place.
  5. We do a few final checks and then you’re free to go with your brand new smile!

What happens during a composite veneer procedure?

The procedure for composite resin veneers is slightly quicker than the porcelain procedure. This is mainly because the veneers do not need to be premade in a special lab. We use resin that is applied directly to your tooth’s surface and moulded accordingly. Once we are happy with the placement we harden the resin with a special UV light. After this we polish the resin to leave you with a new and improved, natural looking smile.
